Our Family Vacation 2007

Friday we arrived at the River Ranch around 5:00pm. The house was very nice. Just enough bedrooms for everyone to have their own room! Each family had their own bathroom too! The first night we looked around and got acquainted with the area so we knew where we were going and such.

Saturday 6-2-2007

Saturday we got up and we were going to go canoeing but it was raining. So we decided to get in our vehicles and go to the Mohican Sate Park. We got a lot of pictures while we were there. Not a lot to do but it was nice to get out. Most of the family went up a fire tower. It was very high up and only dad made it to the very top. Eli made it to the next highest level. Then Jo and Regan. Rhea and John were the first to come down. Later, Mom, John and I neglected to go on the 2 mile hike in the woods. It was nice to sit and chat on a bench while waiting on the others. After their hike we then went to The Grist Mill. This was interesting. When we got back we had supper, which was steak and hamburgers. Then Jo and the girls went swimming while Eli and my parents went fishing. Mom was the only one catching anything until everyone went to where she was at.

Sunday 6-3-2007

Sunday was the day we were going to go canoeing but again the rain came. So we decided to go to Malabar Farms. The kids highly enjoyed this. There were a lot of animals to pet and things to do.

It was a nice get away while it rained. We stopped and ate at the Malabar Restaurant but the folks there seems like it was a huge bother to wait on us. The food was not that great either! When we got back we put on our old clothes and headed to the river to go canoeing.

This was a treat. Ha ha. I must say that if my life depended on canoeing I would not make it. Bill and I just could not get the hang of it. We kept going in circles. Eli had a ball though. He got a Kayak and boy did he go to town. Everyone (but Bill and I) had a good time on the 7mile trip and it took us about 2 hours. LOL We did manage not to kill each other. I felt like the Queen of the Nile, letting him paddle the boat alone. LOL

When we got back from that we ate supper, which was roast and salad. Very good meal. Then we went swimming and got to bed early.

Monday 6-4-2007

On Monday, it was road trip day. While we were waiting on everyone to get ready, Bill, Eli and I snuck out and got breakfast at Radar’s. It was very good and we ended up very full. When we got back everyone was ready so we went into Bellville and tried to tour the Smuckers facility but it was under construction until July. So we were out of luck. Next we went to Lehman’s, the non-electric place. That was a neat store; I just wish I had more money to get the stuff I wanted. After that we went into another town and ate at a place called Farmstead Restaurant, which was the best food I have eaten in a long time. It was very good and we would like to go back there again to eat. The price was very decent and their Peanut butter pie was very tasty. Once we were done eating we went and toured the town in Berlin. They had a lot of nice little shops. Once we were back at the River Ranch we took naps and the kids went swimming. When they got back we ate at McDonalds and then came back and had a nighttime egg hunt with flash lights and glow in the dark eggs. The kids enjoyed it. Then it was time for bed.

Tuesday 6-5-2007

On Tuesday we got up late and decided since most things were wet that we would go Walnut Creek. This was a very little town with not much to really see. We went through some craft malls and antique malls. We then went through Berlin again and revisited some of the stores we went through yesterday. We ate at the Berlin Diner since it was closed yesterday. It was not the greatest food but decent enough. We got back to the River Ranch around 4:30. The kids and I decided to go swimming. After swimming we went fishing. It was very cold but we caught a few.

Regan was the Queen Fisherman of the Mohican Adventures today catching 3 fish and tying Grandpa Alan for top catch of the day. It was a very cold day but not to bad. It was a good night for a bon fire.

Wednesday 6-6-2007

On Wednesday we all slept a little later. When we finally got up and around we decided to hit the Go Karts first thing. Regan rode with John, while Rhea, Eli, dad, and I each had our own cart. John and Eli ended up wrecking while the rest of us past them up!

After this we went to Adventure Golf. We played the medium course with a lot of water hazards.

When we finished there the girls and I went and made flowers at the shelter house. Then we came back and ate a little lunch Most of us took a nap or went fishing after dinner. I went and did laundry so I would not have a lot to do when I got back. Later we went swimming, fishing, and ate supper. The kids and dad went back to the Go Karts.

Once things were cleaned up we played hide and seek in the house. This turned into a huge laugh fest and even grandma played! We got most of the stuff packed up tonight and we are heading back home tomorrow sometime. Maybe stopping for a little lunch.

Final Day 6-7-2007

Thursday we were all up and packed and on the road by 10:00.
We were all a little bummed that the sun was finally out and we had to leave!

We traveled awhile and stopped for lunch at Bob Evans. We got to John and Jo's @3:00 thanks to a dad detour, but we made it and we got to enjoy the scenery. We finally made it home @ 4:00 and got unpacked, well most of it. I am ready to go into my own bed but I just can't sleep. Eli got home and went to check on his chickens and Pepper. Poor Pepper lost a few pounds while we were gone. She misses us so bad when we leave. Anyway, Eli had 3 baby chicks that had just hatched. They are so cute. He will have more in the next day or so and his market chickens are due on Wednesday. So we have a lot to get ready for.
